Criminal Background Check
申请人 to East Georgia State College are required to answer accurately on the application for admission questions related to prior or pending charges and convictions of a crime other than a traffic offense. Convictions shall include: a finding of guilty by a judge or jury, or a plea of guilty or a plea of nolo contendere, irrespective of the pendency or availability or application for collateral relief. 一个肯定的 answer to the questions does not automatically mean an admissions denial but it does require further review before a decision will be made.
-
- Students who wish to live in on-campus housing are required to complete a CBI consent form as part of the 住房 application process
- Students who wish to complete the Teacher Education program will be required to submit a CBI consent form prior to enrolling in their major courses (EDUC 2110/2120/2130). A hold will be placed on their account to prevent registration to ensure compliance
申请人 who mark “yes” to any of the criminal questions will undergo further review through the following methods:
-
- A completed background consent form, $20 processing fee, and a full explanation of the nature of the offense(s) will be required to be returned to the Office of 招生.
- A signature is required on the questionnaire form, allowing the college to perform a background check and investigation. For out of state arrests or convictions, applicants will be required to pay for a national background check. (Specific information on how to proceed with a national background check will be sent to the applicant in a 信.)
- Upon receipt of the background check, the CBI Committee will review the report and determine whether an admission decision can proceed forward or whether a supplemental interview with the CBI Committee is required.
- The committee will consist of representatives from Campus Police, Residence Life, Faculty representative, Student Conduct, and the 招生 office.
- Once a decision concerning admission is made, the applicant will be notified of decision 通过信件.
- The decision of CBI Committee will be final. 申请人 may reapply after one year and are strongly encouraged to consider other educational opportunities, to think about more specific life lessons learned, and/or more specific educational/career 目标.
- 招生 decisions are contingent upon the results of criminal history information provided by the applicant or obtained during a background investigation. 申请人 that demonstrate a history of criminal activity or behavior will be considered based on the nature, number and gravity of crimes for which the applicant was convicted and the amount of time that has passed since the conviction.
申请人 that fail to report criminal history information may be removed from further consideration in the admissions process. All statements made in admissions applications must be true and complete. Discrepancies, misstatements, omissions, and/or falsifications may be cause for denial. If an applicant is admitted and it is later determined that the information provided during the admissions process was not factual or complete, the applicant may face student conduct charges.
